It is the understanding of the MacGuru that Apple Macintosh computers are the best computers for anyone to use. Microsoft Windows computers are difficult to configure, continually and now dangerous to use due to the overproliferation of viruses and adware which will bring any windows computer to an unusable state. None of that exists on the Macintosh OS X platform. Linux computers do not have the variety of software or the ease of use of the Mac OS X platform.
It is the desire of the MacGuru that others should enjoy the computing experience rather than approach it as one of severe challenge and frustration.
The business of the MacGuru is to start where Apple STOPS and to make your Apple computer experience a fruitful one, no matter what your decision is: to stay with the Classic Mac OS, to run both, or to run just Mac OS X. Also whether you run PowerPC or Intel cpu based Macs you will find in-depth support here.

Using Mac OS X-a BSD unix operating system with an easy to use Graphic user interface, which is the most robust and reliable multitasking OS available. The combination of Mac OS X plus the unique Macintosh hardware results in highly efficient systems. As an aside, BSD is the OS used by NASA, and Mac OS X is being adopted by the NSA, FBI, and US Army in increasing numbers. Macintosh hardware is very long-lasting and of superior quality-for instance I have myself a 11 year old computer, both of which are hardware upgradeable, a feature of Macintosh hardware, both running very well even by todays standards due to upgraded hardware. My associate Mary has a system based on a 8 year old tower which is fast and considerably reliable as well.
Also your IT department will be outsourced to a VERY part-time consultant. (Available 24/7/365, and meaning the time involved will be spartan)

HOT OFF THE PRESS Macs switch to Intel CPUS what this means to you!!!!!
Macs will cross over to Intel cpus within calendar years 2006-2007. What this will mean is that PowerPC applications will run under emulation in Leopard OS X 10.5 on an Intel based Mac. This emulator will only emulate a G3 processor not a G4 or G5. So it is a 32 bit emulator and will NOT use altivec code. So any pro apps such as Photoshop. Final Cut Pro or any altivec enhanced program will not run well. Thus you can decide IF you want to upgrade your pro software to Leopard. Also any utility software will have to be replaced as well. In fact over time ALL software will have to be replaced, in real terms. So it means a BIG expense-other than that of just a computer. What you have to ask yourself is when you wish to make such a commitment. Any PowerPC based computer you buy today or near term from Apple will run current versions of available software. Apple had to make this decision to switch to Intel cpus based on the poor development of the PowerPC platform.
